An Overview
Thattekad Bird Sanctuary also known as Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is home to over 300 species of birds, including all the endemics. Mottled Wood Owl, Brown Wood Owl, Malayan Night Heron, Sri Lankan Frogmouth, Rusty-tailed Flycatcher, Grey headed Bulbul and Nilgiri Wood Pigeon are some of the rarer species found here. Amritara Hornbill Camp perfectly blends into the forest, for the guests to enjoy their private jungle and the spectacular view of the River Periyar.
