Melghat Tiger Reserve is a unique and highly diverse biosphere reserve, which is believed to be one of India’s best-kept secrets. Hilly backdrops, gorgeous water bodies and a rather stunning blend of dramatic landscapes characterize this thick, dry-deciduous forest. This expanse of dry deciduous forest covering an area over 3000 square kilometres and is home to a number of species of animals. Leopards, Wild Dogs, Sloth Bear, Indian Gaur, Sambhar, Wild Boar, Cheetal and langoor are amongst the widely viewed animals here. Melghat Tiger Reserve is also a birdwatcher’s paradise. Critically Endangered The Forest Owlet, mostly seen now in the Satpura range, Melghat Tiger Reserve is the one of the best places to see this bird. Accommodation – Explore the Melghat in our Expedition Camp within the Tiger Reserve offering a friendly and intimate stay. There are only four tents, each comfortably furnished with a bathroom, flushing toilet and hot safari shower, low wattage lighting is supplied 24 hours. All tents are overlooking the Sipna River and the eastern escarpment and offer stunning view down the valley. Tiger Trails is now at Melghat with the accommodation of 4 rooms and 4 tents.
Walking Safaris – Walking deep into the forest with our naturalist and Korku Guides and you appreciate the smaller animals including the flying squirrels as well as over 300+ birds species that inhabit the park. Elephant Safaris – Take an elephant back safari with an extraordinary perspective of the park, or move in between our forest camps.
